Malabon in General

DISCOVERING MALABON

Malabon City was created on May 21, 1599. In 1627 to 1638, it was administered by the Tondo District. From 1827 to 1859, Malabon and Navotas were instituted to form Tambobong. By the 19th Century, Philippine Commission Act No. 137 separated and incorporated the twin towns into the Province of Rizal. On January 6, 1906, Act No. 1442 permanently separated the towns into two districts and municipalities. For about seventy years, Malabon was a municipality of the Rizal Council until November 7, 1995 when Presidential Decree No. 824 made it one of the thriving localities in Metropolitan Manila.
